FREE Workshops and Concerts with Wimbledon High School

In 2018, we were delighted to announce that the Jigsaw Players’ Concert Series developed a partnership with Wimbledon High School and their very talented pupils.

Our project ranged from workshops exploring string quartet through the centuries from Haydn to Shostakovich, to two workshops and two concerts, where we helped students develop their performance skills, improving their ensemble work through joint performances and worked on A level compositions with Year 13 pupils. JPCS members also adjudicated the Wimbledon High School Young Musician of the Year competition in each different category as well as the final.

We were also invited to perform our programme dedicated to female composers, which we had previously performed at the Wimbledon Bookfest.

Workshop 1 dedicated to the exploration of string quartet writing throughout the centuries.

We had the opportunity to work along-side A level students on their compositions, culminating in a concert along side performing a composition by former Head of Music at WHS, Richard Bristow.
