We are deeply proud to present an evening dedicated to the celebration of female composers at Marryat Road for our BookFest 2018 appearance. Featuring Clara Schumann, Nadia Boulanger, Fanny Mendelssohn, Germaine Tailleferre and Rebecca Clarke, the outstanding pieces we have selected to delight you will be accompanied by extracts from their letters, and narrated by the wonderful Rosalind Ayres and (theatre engagement permitting) Martin Jarvis, OBE.

Clara Schumann (1819 - 1896), Nadia Boulanger (1887 - 1979), Fanny Mendelssohn (1805 - 1847), Germaine Tailleferre (1892 - 1983), Rebecca Clarke (1886 - 1979): what sacrifices did these pioneering women have to make for the love of their Art?

Rebecca Clarke: Passacaglia & Lullaby for viola and piano

Clara Schumann: 3 romances for violin & piano 

Nadia Boulanger: 3 pieces for cello and piano 

Germaine Tailleferre: Romance for violin and piano

Fanny Mendelssohn: Piano quartet in A flat
